Positive conical extraction tank

Overview

The straight conical extraction tank, also known as the upright conical extraction tank, is used in various processes such as atmospheric pressure, sub-atmospheric pressure, decoction, maceration, hot reflux, forced circulation percolation, essential oil extraction, and organic solvent recovery in traditional Chinese medicine, food, and chemical industries. It offers high efficiency and ease of operation, with a CIP cleaning system inside that meets GMP standards. This equipment can be integrated into a dynamic extraction system.

Working principle

The whole extraction process of the positive conical extractor is completed in a closed and circulating system. It can be extracted under normal pressure or under pressure. Whether it is water extraction, alcohol extraction, oil extraction or other purposes, the specific process requirements are cut out by the Chinese medicine factory according to the performance requirements of the drug.

  1. Water extraction: The water and Chinese medicine are placed in the extraction tank. Start supplying the heat source to the jacket, and after boiling in the tank, reduce the supply of heat source to maintain boiling inside the tank. The duration depends on the extraction pharmacological process; for example, in closed extraction, cooling water is supplied to cool the steam and return it to the extraction tank, maintaining circulation and temperature.;
  2. Alcohol Extraction: First, add the herbs and alcohol to a sealed container. Supply steam from the jacketed heat source, open the cooling water to bring the temperature inside the container to the required level, then reduce the supply of heat source. The rising vapor alcohol should pass through the condenser and return as liquid alcohol. To improve efficiency, a pump can be used for forced circulation, drawing the herb solution from the bottom of the container and returning it to the top inlet, thus eliminating local flow.
  3. Oil Extraction: First, add the Chinese herbal medicine containing volatile oils and water to the extraction tank. Open the circulation valve of the oil separator, adjust the bypass return valve, and open the heat source valve to reach the evaporation temperature. Then, turn on the cooling water for cooling. The cooled herbal solution should be kept at a certain height in the separator to facilitate separation. Finally, rotate the oil-water separator for use;
  4. Recovery of oil: Add alcohol into the cylinder, open the cooling water for the steam, and then open the recovery valve;

Structural Composition

The complete set of positive conical extraction tank equipment consists of 1. extraction tank; 2. foam collector; 3. gas-liquid separator; 4. cooler; 5. condenser; 6. oil-water separator; 7. feed pump; 8. pipeline filter and internal connecting pipeline.

The main body of the positive conical extraction tank includes the inner cylinder, jacket layer, insulation layer, support ear, pneumatic slag door, pneumatic operating table, etc.; the insulation layer of the extraction tank is made of rock wool as the insulation material.

The inner cylinder is made of high-quality SUS304/316L, with a fully enclosed jacket and an outer cylinder made of SUS304 matte thin steel plate. The conical extraction tank is equipped with a CIP automatic rotating spray ball head, temperature measurement holes, explosion-proof sight glasses, viewing mirrors, and quick-opening feed ports, ensuring easy operation and compliance with GMP pharmaceutical standards. It features uniform solvent distribution and convenient residue discharge.

Structural characteristics

  1. Traditional form, which occupies a small space in the building and is widely used in extraction workshops.
  2. The bottom heating is set on the slag door to make the extraction of medicinal materials more complete.
  3. The improved liquid discharge method and the added stirring device can be applied to the dynamic extraction system.
