Hydrothermal Reactor

Overview

1. Overview of Hydrothermal Synthesis and Reactor

Hydrothermal synthesis has a long history, dating back to 1845.
It is an effective method for inorganic synthesis and material processing.
We use an aqueous solution as the reaction system in a special closed reactor.
We heat and pressurize the system to create a high-temperature, high-pressure environment.
This environment dissolves and recrystallizes hardly soluble or insoluble substances.
We call the closed reactor for hydrothermal synthesis a hydrothermal synthesis reactor.
It is also known as a hydrothermal reactor for short.

2. Reactor Basic Parameters

The hydrothermal reactor provides a reaction space for hydrothermal and solvothermal synthesis.
It is usually a closed or medium-high pressure container.
Its temperature generally ranges from 100 to 1000 °C.
Its pressure is usually 1 to 100 Mpa.
We design specific temperature and pressure based on synthesized products.

3. Reactor Applications

It is one of the most commonly used reaction equipments in chemical synthesis.
We use it to study substance reactivity under hydrothermal conditions.
It also helps research synthesis reaction laws.
Additionally, it is used to test the structure and performance of synthesized products.

4. Reactor Size and Reaction Types

Hydrothermal synthesis requires high temperature and pressure, with violent reactions.
Thus, we usually use small-sized hydrothermal reactors.
Hydrothermal reactions have multiple types.
These types include oxidation, reduction, precipitation, synthesis, hydrolysis, and crystallization.
Among them, hydrothermal crystallization is the most frequently used.

5. Reactor Material and Sealing

We make the reactor body from high-quality 304 or 316L stainless steel.
It uses a circular mortise and tenon joint for sealing.
The manual spiral ensures firm connection.
It has good sealing performance, high safety, and easy operation.
The tank interior can withstand high temperatures and corrosion.

6. Special Lining and Tank Polishing

For special materials, we adopt a tetrafluoro-lined structure.
This structure has strong corrosion resistance.
It does not adsorb materials and is non-toxic and harmless.
The reactor uses elliptical heads at the top and bottom for good pressure resistance.
We mirror-polish the inner tank surface (roughness Ra ≤ 0.4 μm).
We mechanically polish the outer surface to Ra ≤ 0.8 μm.

7. Stirring Paddle Options

We select stirring paddle forms according to process requirements.
Options include frame type, anchor type, blade type, and turbine type.
We can also design paddles based on customers’ special requirements.

8. Reactor Configuration

It is equipped with an electrical control box.
The control box includes a thermometer, liquid level measurement, and pressure display.
It also has switches, indicator lights, and a spotlight switch.
Other configurations include manhole, material inlet and outlet, and heating/cooling medium ports.
It also has standby, cleaning, sterilization, and sampling ports.
Additionally, it has thermometer, pressure gauge, and vacuum ports.
