Spherical concentration tanks, also known as spherical concentrators or spherical vacuum concentration tanks, feature convenient operation, reliable performance, pollution-free production environments, and low noise. Therefore, concentration tanks are widely applied in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, and chemical engineering for the concentration and distillation processes of liquid materials

Structural Features and Operation Methods

Structural Composition

The spherical vacuum concentration tank is mainly composed of five components:

 

  1. Concentration tank
  2. Vapor-liquid separator
  3. Condenser
  4. Cooler (tubular type)
  5. Material receiving tank

 

Specifications: 300L, 500L, with baffle separation structure, adopting vacuum distillation (reduced-pressure distillation).

Operational Principle

To lower the liquid surface pressure and correspondingly reduce the boiling point of the liquid material (since distillation proceeds fastest at the boiling point), the vacuum degree can be adjusted by the user according to the thermal sensitivity of the material.

Operation Steps

  1. Feeding: Open the vacuum port and feed inlet valves, suck the liquid material into the tank. When the liquid level reaches a certain height, partially close the feed valve.
  2. Heating & Distillation: Slowly open the steam inlet valve, allow the liquid to boil for several minutes, then maintain the steam pressure and vacuum degree (or ensure normal boiling via temperature control).
  3. Separation & Recovery: The distilled liquid passes through the separator:
    • Part of it refluxes to the main tank.
    • Non-condensable components (or liquid) pass through the condenser into the material receiving tank for recycling or discharge.
  4. Discharging: After concentration, close the vacuum and steam valves, open the air vent (straight nozzle cock valve), and discharge the material under normal pressure.
